Marie studied journalism and worked in media relations for two decades. She knows exactly what journalists and content creators are looking for, what trips spokespeople up, and what makes messages cut through. She hasn’t just media trained, she’s built media campaigns, messages, media trained then forensically dissected the results. She knows what’s going on well before anyone is standing in front of a camera. 

She believes that while understanding the media is valuable, what’s really important when you’re a brand is how to both meet the interviewer’s needs and yours at the same time. At the end of the day – the media’s job is not to promote you. They have their own agenda and know their audience more intimately than you ever will.  

Marie will help you balance their needs and yours so you can also build relationships along the way. No one is going to invite you back for an interview if all you did was self-promote!

Marie doesn’t just work in communication – she lives and breathes it. With a background in journalism, a Masters in Organisational Communication, and a diploma in digital marketing, she brings a razor-sharp mix of insight, speed, and creative punch to every brand she touches.  
 
She’s been behind the PR campaigns (and of course media coaching) for global brands like Mastercard, Ocean Spray, Nespresso and even the Paris Olympic bid campaign (which they lost, sadly). And she’s helped local brands scale like healthcare brand Purifas, emotional intelligence leaders Genos International, offshore outsourcing service provider Staff Domain and many more. She knows storytelling and branding and she knows how to get it cut through in interviews.

Off the clock, Marie moonlights as a stand-up comedian, which explains her ability to deliver training that is truly memorable and engaging. Sometimes she does really well, other times she bombs – but hitting the scariest stage in the world is her constant reminder of what it feels like to be in your position. She may have mastered comms, but she is still well and truly a comedy amateur and the nerves that grip you when you’re on a stage area always front of mind.

When you contact us, we'll be able to provide you with a detailed proposal within 24 hours.

This helps to ensure that when you invest the time to do an interview, there is a benefit to you and your brand. Be that protecting it's reputation, promoting a service or educating audiences on your category to boost understanding amongst your audience.

  • Individuals who interact with the media or are interviewed on behalf of an organisation, such as business executives, association leaders, department heads, politicians, and athletes. If PR is in your future, you must be media trained.

You may need training for issues management or it may be to align with a launch. Perhaps you are training new leaders or a CEO that needs a refresher. The course will be based upon your needs. That's why our media training is not available as a public course - it's completely customised.

  • Yes. The media is no longer just TV, radio, print. You have to be prepared for podcasts, social media, media event Q&As and more. Sometimes you'll be interviewed over the phone or even zoom. You need to master all of them and this training will ensure that you do!

  • Messaging is effectively what you want your audience to believe about you and the proof you have to back it up. It should support your brand, product or service. Without it, you will do media interviews with no sense of purpose and without any kind of framework. That means, from one interview to another, you won't tell a consistent story. Consistency is what helps you build your brand and reputation. If you don't have it yet, enquire about our messaging workshops. We recommend you have messaging in place ahead of your training - even if it's a draft to test. If you don't have messaging, or aren't interested in putting messaging together, you won't get as much value from your media training.
